Basketball Recap: West Florence Takes a Loss

West Florence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 59-27 defeat at the hands of the Lugoff-Elgin Demons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-39 on January 3rd.

Lugoff-Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleb Long led the charge by going 5 for 12 en route to 10 points. Corey Murphy was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

West Florence's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florence has already played their next match (against Spring Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lugoff-Elgin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sumter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lugoff-Elgin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
