Basketball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Robertson

On Thursday, Albuquerque Academy faced Robertson in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Albuquerque Academy Chargers lost 54-29 to the Robertson Cardinals. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Albuquerque Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rowan M. Jaime posted four points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Jaime a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Harlow Schow, who put up four points and three steals.

Leading Robertson to victory were Natalia Martinez and Alyxa King-Greenwalt. Martinez went 7 of 10 on her way to 17 points, while King-Greenwalt had 12 points. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Taylor Quintana was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Albuquerque Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-4. As for Robertson, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Albuquerque Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-37 win against St. Michael's on the 10th. As for Robertson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-34 defeat against St. Pius X on the 10th.
