Softball Recap: Geneva's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Geneva barely beat St. Edward the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings put the hurt on the Green Wave with a sharp 19-4 win on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Geneva got a massive performance out of Clara Lyons, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs Lyons has posted since back in April. Megan O'Connor was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Geneva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Geneva's record is now 7-16. As for St. Edward, they moved to 12-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Geneva and St. Edward could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 333rd) will meet Glenbard North (ranked 25th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, St. Edward will face off against Bishop McNamara at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (366 vs. 144).
