Baseball Recap: Apollo Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Apollo barely beat Muhlenberg County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gunnar Hendricks and Ty Lillpop did most of the damage at the plate: Hendricks went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double, while Lillpop went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Lillpop a new career-high. Jagger Pate was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Apollo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Muhlenberg County, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 10-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apollo will welcome Hancock County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Muhlenberg County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Owensboro at 6:00 p.m.
