Basketball Game Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Springfield Longhorns

Kit Carson and Springfield are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Kit Carson Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Springfield Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kit Carson took on Granada on Friday. The game between Kit Carson and Granada didn't end well, with Kit Carson falling 53-34. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Holly, falling 66-44.

Kit Carson will have to contain Colby Batterton as he made an impact in Springfield's last game. He dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. That was a full 54.5% of Springfield's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Rothman, who earned seven points.

Kit Carson's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Kit Carson didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Springfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Batterton, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points and five steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Kit Carson still be able to contain Batterton? There's only one way to find out.
