Preview: Oaks Christian Lions vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

Oaks Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Mission Viejo Diablos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

With a playoff game on the line, Oaks Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to Chaparral for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-7 win at home. Oaks Christian pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Chaparral had little chance of recovering from.

Oaks Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nate Bennett, who threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and Chase Farrell, who picked up 167 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Parks, who rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, even though Palos Verdes scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Mission Viejo still came out on top. Mission Viejo was the clear victor by a 59-35 margin over Palos Verdes. Winning may never get old, but Mission Viejo sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mission Viejo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vance Spafford out in front who picked up 173 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Spafford's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Dijon Lee jr. did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 43 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mission Viejo's defensive line and their 5.5 sacks. Jonavan Asuncion was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Their wins bumped Oaks Christian to 9-2 and Mission Viejo to 8-3.
