Softball Recap: Loogootee Comes Up Short

Loogootee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Linton-Stockton Miners, falling 10-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 19-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Brynn Lengacher and Breanna Courter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lengacher went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Courter went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Loogootee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Linton-Stockton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Coming up, Loogootee is taking a road trip to face off against White River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Linton-Stockton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clay City at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Miners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eels have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
