Volleyball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Galena

Galena entered their tilt with Southwest on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in September.

Galena walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-16, 25-18.

Leading Galena to victory were Chloe Simpson and Mel Rice. Simpson had 14 assists and four digs, while Rice had 12 kills and 12 digs. Rice is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 26 games she's played.

Galena was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Southwest still got an impressive performance from Olivia Hnem, who had 19 digs and two aces.

Galena's record is now 18-10-3. As for Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-18-3.

Galena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Exeter on the 21st. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against McAuley Catholic on the 20th.
