Baseball Recap: Glenns Ferry Takes a Loss

Glenns Ferry had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Melba Mustangs, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Wednesday.

As for Melba, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Melba's part, Aden Arrington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arrington was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ty Aggen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lester, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Glenns Ferry will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gooding at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th. As for Melba, they will face off against Weiser at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
