Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Takes a Loss

Mater Dei came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Breese Central Cougars by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Andrew Sinnock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April.

This is the second loss in a row for Mater Dei and nudges their season record down to 6-16. As for Breese Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-10.

Mater Dei does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Breese Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Gibault Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
