South Pontotoc came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Independence Wildcats 14-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

South Pontotoc pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.

Looking ahead, South Pontotoc will welcome Calhoun City at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Independence, they are taking a road trip to face off against White Station at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
