Baseball Recap: Millard North Takes Down Ranked Creighton Prep

Millard North faced Creighton Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bluejay 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 last Saturday.

Millard North got a great performance from Collin Driffill as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Driffill has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Millard North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deacon Hurley, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Millard North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Creighton Prep, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9.
