Basketball Game Preview: Stewarts Creek Red Hawks vs. Cookeville Cavaliers

The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Cookeville Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Stewarts Creek ended up a good deal behind Lebanon and lost 61-47. The loss continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cookeville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Smyrna 58-19. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 25 points or more this season.

Cookeville's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points over those games. As for Stewarts Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Stewarts Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cookeville in their previous meeting two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 71-67 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cookeville's Cara Lee Gilbert, who went 11-for-15 to rack up 31 points and five rebounds.
