Volleyball Recap: Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After flying high against Cristo Rey last Thursday, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy came back down to earth. The Wolves fell just short of the Faith Christian Lions by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wolves' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 19-25, 25-13, 25-17, 15-11.

Despite the defeat, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Katelyn Tanber had 13 digs and three aces. Cate Vu also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Mandy-Gail Fitzgerald had an outrageously good game for Faith Christian as she had 23 digs and one assist. Those 23 digs gave Fitzgerald a new career-high.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Faith Christian, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Buckingham Charter on the 16th. As for Faith Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Cristo Rey on the 17th.
