After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, Cherokee was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They never let the Phil Campbell Bobcats get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.
Libby Collum made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit over four innings pitched. Collum was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Akhariya Spencer was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Madison Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Cherokee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
With the victory, Cherokee broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for Phil Campbell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
