Winfield came tearing into Saturday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Hackleburg Panthers 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted against the Panthers since February 29, 2016.

Winfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Hackleburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Winfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 victory against Hamilton on the 5th. Hopefully Hackleburg payed attention to the Pirates' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
