Basketball Recap: Kenedy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kenedy can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Santa Maria Cougars and fell 80-47. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-17.

When it comes to explaining why Kenedy lost on Tuesday, don't look at DJ Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Fraga, who posted four points.

Even though they lost, Kenedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Kenedy's loss dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Santa Maria, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
