Basketball Recap: Three Straight Road Wins for Jeff Davis

Jeff Davis had won three straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped up to 5-3 to make it four. They walked away with a 74-67 victory over the Wheeler County Bulldogs. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 62-61 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

As for Wheeler County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Jeff Davis since Saturday.

Despite the loss, Wheeler County still got an impressive performance from Michael Wright Jr., who shot 50% from the field en route to 33 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Culver, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Coming up, Jeff Davis will head out to face off against Pierce County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wheeler County, they will be home for the holidays to greet Bryan County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
