Softball Game Preview: Placer Hillmen vs. Roseville Tigers

Placer hasn't had much luck against Roseville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hillmen will square off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Placer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

Roseville will be up against a hot Placer squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Hillmen walked away with a 10-7 win over Del Campo last Thursday.

Serena Sweet was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Livia WileyPearson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Roseville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to Pleasant Valley.

Placer's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Roseville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Placer's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Hillmen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Roseville, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Placer continue to outrun the ball?

Placer came up short against Roseville in their previous matchup back in March, falling 8-5. Can the Hillmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
