Softball Recap: Umatilla Takes a Loss

Umatilla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Dora Hurricanes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in February.

Kiersten Hunsicker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Umatilla's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mount Dora, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Umatilla will welcome Leesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Leesburg will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Umatilla surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mount Dora, they will look to defend their home field on March 25th against Belleview at 7:00 p.m.
