Preview: Crested Butte Titans vs. Monte Vista Pirates
The Crested Butte Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Monte Vista Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crested Butte has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three matches.
Crested Butte can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Center 69-28 at home. Given Crested Butte's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Center is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Weston Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Davis, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista ended up a good deal behind Sanford on Saturday and lost 54-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monte Vista in their matchups with Sanford: they've now lost six in a row.
Crested Butte's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Crested Butte lost to Monte Vista on the road by a decisive 53-39 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Crested Butte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
