Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Wildcats vs. High Point Academy Grizzlies
Blacksburg won the last time they faced High Point Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Matty Cody made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Blacksburg: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-16 otherwise.

In other batting news, Blacksburg let Neal Thompson and Dayvon Garrison run wild. Thompson went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Garrison went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Garrison a new career-high. Jakob Reid was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
