Softball Recap: Mt. Carmel Golden Aces vs. Paris Tigers
Mt. Carmel entered their tilt with Paris on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Tigers 16-1. Considering the Golden Aces have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lyla Keepes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Keepes was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Mt. Carmel got a massive performance out of Evie Sellers, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave Sellers a new career-high. Gracee Haggard also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paris only managed three hits.
Mt. Carmel's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Paris, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will head out to face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Aces' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. As for Paris, they will venture away from home to square off against Georgetown-Ridge Farm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
