Softball Recap: Hand Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hand ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the East Haven Yellowjackets 10-9. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Grace Hall spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Alexa Young was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lena Aguzzi, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hand pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for East Haven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hand will take on Lyman Hall at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Haven, they will head out on the road to take on Cromwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
