Baseball Preview: Whiteland Warriors vs. Plainfield Quakers
Whiteland and Plainfield are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Whiteland Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Plainfield Quakers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Whiteland fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Greenwood on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Woodmen by a score of 6-5.
Drew Helton put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Helton was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

At the plate, Grady Broughton was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was John Jaisle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Whiteland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Plainfield, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0.
