Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

If Notre Dame was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Vinton on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers fell 2-0 to the Slidell Tigers on Saturday. The Pioneers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-15.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Slidell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Labat, who had five blocks and three digs. Labat has been hot for a while, having also posted 17 or more assists the last 29 times she's played. Lillian Simpson was another key player, getting ten digs and two aces.

Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Slidell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-7 record this season.

Notre Dame will take on St. Thomas More at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Slidell, they will head out to square off against Mandeville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
