Football Recap: Trey Lester Key Part of Team Effort in Tide Win + How To Watch

After losing to Scott the last time they met, Sherman decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tide walked away with a 42-34 win over the Skyhawks on Friday.

Sherman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Lester, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Lester also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass. Chase Southern was in the mix as well, providing Sherman with one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sherman was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Sherman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eli Pauley, Ayden Davis, and Colby Atkins picked up one apiece. Sherman received some extra help from Southern, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Sherman's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Scott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Sherman will face off against Poca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tide will be up against the Dots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Scott, they will square off against Williamstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
