After losing to Hammond Morton the last time they met, Hammond Central decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Governors on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Wolves have beaten the Governors on their field since May 25, 2023.

Jansel Savinon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Cameron Keaton was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hammond Central's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Hammond Morton, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, Hammond Central will take on Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Brickies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hammond Morton, they will square off against Whiting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Oilers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.62 runs per game on average), something the Governors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
