Preview: Benjamin Davis Falcons vs. Dekaney Wildcats
Benjamin Davis is 8-2 against Dekaney since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Benjamin Davis Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Benjamin Davis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 51-39 victory over Spring.
Meanwhile, Dekaney had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past MacArthur with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. Given Dekaney's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while MacArthur is ranked 1044th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Benjamin Davis pushed their record up to 14-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Dekaney, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Benjamin Davis didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Dekaney when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benjamin Davis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
