Football Game Preview: Steele Knights vs. San Marcos Rattlers

Steele has gone a perfect 5-0 against San Marcos recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. Steele knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully San Marcos likes a good challenge.

Two weeks ago, Steele blew past Judson, posting a 48-14 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Marshall Kenner had a dynamite game, rushing for 105 yards and two TDs. Those 105 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Liam Jones got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, San Marcos hadn't done well against Judson recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rattlers came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 27-17.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to San Marcos' defense and their four sacks. In that department, Colson Geesee was the leader with two. Another thorn in Judson's side was Izayah Young, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Steele pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points over those games. As for San Marcos, their record is now 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Steele against San Marcos when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 63-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
