Oak Hill hadn't done well against Wellston recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Oaks walked away with a 5-2 win over the Golden Rockets. While the Oaks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Andy Meldick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Oak Hill's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Oak Hill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Wellston, they moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Oak Hill will square off against South Webster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jeeps' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Oaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wellston, they will face off against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
