Softball Game Preview: West Muskingum Tornadoes vs. Sheridan Generals

The West Muskingum Tornadoes will square off against the Sheridan Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Tuesday, West Muskingum beat Maysville 10-5.

Addy Antonetz was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Antonetz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaley Meddings was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Calie Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

West Muskingum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sheridan got themselves on the board against Tri-Valley on Tuesday, but Tri-Valley never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Scotties with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sheridan pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for West Muskingum, their record is now 12-6.

West Muskingum couldn't quite get it done against Sheridan in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Tornadoes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
