Basketball Recap: James Island Victorious

James Island won the last time they faced North Charleston, and Gavin Ward did his part to make sure it happened again. The James Island Trojans came out on top against the North Charleston Cougars by a score of 57-49 on Tuesday thanks in part to Ward, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Joshua Gladden was another key player, putting up five points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

North Charleston's loss came despite strong showings from Richard Hazel III and Marco Simpson. Hazel III posted 13 points and eight rebounds, while Simpson went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points. Hazel III continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Jordan, who had four points and three steals.

James Island now has a winning record of 3-2. As for North Charleston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

James Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-36 win against Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the 13th. As for North Charleston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-47 victory against Stall on the 13th.
