Basketball Game Preview: Spain Park Jaguars vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Spain Park Jaguars face off against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Spain Park turned things around against Robertsdale on Saturday. They took down the Golden Bears 55-38. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hornets 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since January 23rd.

Clay-Chalkville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Spain Park, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Spain Park came up short against Clay-Chalkville in their previous matchup on December 3rd, falling 62-53. Can Spain Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
