Softball Recap: Central Christian Comets vs. Chippewa Chipps
Central Christian had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it seven. They lost 13-3 to the Chippewa Chipps. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Chipps when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Mattea Nofziger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
As for Chippewa, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 3-10 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Chippewa's side, EMMA SCRITCHFIELD spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Chippewa got a big performance out of KYLEIGH GARTIN, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs GARTIN has posted since back in May of 2024. MADI RIES was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Central Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-10 win against Orrville on the 7th. As for Chippewa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Dalton on the 7th.
