Preview: Springdale Prep Lions vs. Mount Airy Christian Academy
After two games on the road, Springdale Prep is heading back home. They will take on Mount Airy Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Springdale Prep is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mount Airy Christian Academy in Maryland (Springdale Prep is ranked 104th, while Mount Airy Christian Academy is ranked 282nd).
After only 19 points in their last match, Springdale Prep made sure to put some points up on the board against Clinton Grace last Thursday. Springdale Prep simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clinton Grace 56-29 on the road.
Springdale Prep found their leader in underclassman Maddie Poole, who scored 28 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Poole has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vestina Davidontye, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mount Airy Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 47-15 loss at the hands of Maryland School for the Deaf. Mount Airy Christian Academy was down 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Springdale Prep now has a winning record of 23-22. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Everything came up roses for Springdale Prep against Mount Airy Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-7 win.
