Preview: Folsom Bulldogs vs. Granite Bay Grizzlies

Folsom is 8-1 against Granite Bay since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Folsom Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Granite Bay Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Folsom can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They really took it to Del Oro for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-21 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Folsom sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

It was another big night for Ryder Lyons, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 219 yards and five touchdowns. Lyons hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Abram Woodson was another key contributor, gaining 110 total yards and two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Del Oro to a paltry 238 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Folsom's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. Del Oro's QB won't forget Elijah Gulewich anytime soon given Gulewich sacked him seven times.

Meanwhile, Granite Bay fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Rocklin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder. Granite Bay has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carter Jackson, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Jason Hill jr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Folsom's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points per game. As for Granite Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Folsom has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 283.4 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Granite Bay, though, as they've been averaging only 88.7 per game. How will Granite Bay fare against such a dominant passing game?

Everything came up roses for Folsom against Granite Bay in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-27 victory. Does Folsom have another victory up their sleeve, or will Granite Bay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
