Preview: Fremont Silverwolves vs. Weber Warriors
Fremont is 10-0 against Weber since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fremont Silverwolves will be playing at home against the Weber Warriors at 5:15 p.m. Hopefully Fremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Fremont put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Farmington 51-19 at home. While fans of Fremont might be used to big wins, the 32-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Syncere Langston was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Christensen, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Weber's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 54-32 defeat at the hands of Syracuse. While losing is never fun, Weber can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Syracuse is ranked seventh).
Weber's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Abby Sayer, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Avery Shupe who scored six points.
The victory got Fremont back to even at 10-10. As for Weber, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fremont have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Weber struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Fremont's way against Weber in their previous meeting back in January as Fremont made off with a 63-43 win. Will Fremont repeat their success, or does Weber have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
