Volleyball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 1st.

Independence took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Mayfield on the 19th. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Berkshire on the 22nd.
