Basketball Game Preview: St. John XXIII Lions vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders

St. John XXIII hasn't had much luck against Concordia Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The St. John XXIII Lions will challenge the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders at 6:00 p.m.

St. John XXIII saw some tournament action back in December of 2024. They fell 51-38 to Village. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran entered their tilt with Episcopal on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They pulled ahead with a 33-32 photo finish over the Knights.

Concordia Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points per game. As for St. John XXIII, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

St. John XXIII took a serious blow against Concordia Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 50-12. Can St. John XXIII avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
