Basketball Recap: Mike Ngoyi Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

There's no place like home for Lincoln Southeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs by a score of 74-64 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Southeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mike Ngoyi, who posted 20 points and six assists. The contest was Ngoyi's third in a row with at least 15 points. Prospedi Mukendi was another key player, going 7 of 11 en route to 20 points.

Ngoyi wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Lincoln Southeast was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Papillion-LaVista lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being DeMarcus McCarty, who went 8 for 17 to rack up 20 points and three steals. That's the most points McCarty has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sam Boudreau, who had 15 points and five rebounds.

Lincoln Southeast's record now sits at 12-5. As for Papillion-LaVista, their record now sits at 8-10.

Lincoln Southeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-48 loss against Creighton Prep on the 8th. As for Papillion-LaVista, they have also already played their next match, a 66-57 victory against Fremont on the 7th.
