Southmont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Fountain Central Mustangs, posting a 42-14 win on the road. The Mounties' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Heath Tolliver and he. Tolliver rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown while he rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown. Southmont will be defending their home-field for the first time for the first time when they go up against North Putnam at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southmont will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. As for Fountain Central, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Crawfordsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
