Recap: East Providence Townies vs. Moses Brown Quakers
On Saturday, the East Providence Townies faced the Moses Brown Quakers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. East Providence walked away with a 42-35 victory over Moses Brown. The win was just what East Providence needed coming off of a 42-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leading East Providence to victory were Steven Clark Jr and Jacob Duarte. Clark Jr rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, while Duarte rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Duarte was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards.
East Providence's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Moses Brown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, East Providence and La Salle Academy will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (La Salle Academy is ranked ninth, while East Providence is ranked 15th). Moses Brown will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on St. Raphael Academy at 6:00 p.m. on November 22nd. St. Raphael Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
