Baseball Game Preview: FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

FAMU DRS is 1-9 against St. John Paul II since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Baby Rattlers will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. FAMU DRS has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

FAMU DRS came up short against Jefferson County on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The Baby Rattlers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chayce Cromer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for FAMU DRS: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise.

Meanwhile, St. John Paul II beat Brookwood 7-4 on Friday.

St. John Paul II saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javi Santana, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Wyatt Cantella, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

St. John Paul II is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for FAMU DRS, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

FAMU DRS might still be hurting after the 21-0 defeat they got from St. John Paul II when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can the Baby Rattlers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
