Basketball Recap: Fishers Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Saturday, the Fishers Tigers were able to grind out a solid win over the Hersey Huskies, taking the game 51-41. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 26th in Indiana, while the Huskies are ranked 88th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Nevaeh Dickman, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. Allison Scheu was another key player, putting up eight points.

The victory made it two in a row for Fishers and bumps their season record up to 11-6. As for Hersey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fishers will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Hersey, they will head out to square off against Wheeling at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
