Basketball Recap: Crystal River Piles Up the Points Against Sarasota Military Academy

On Friday, the Crystal River Pirates took their match with ease, bagging a 59-24 win over the Sarasota Military Academy Eagles. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crystal River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Yost, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five assists. Those six steals gave Yost a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Cooper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Crystal River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Crystal River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Sarasota Military Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
