Basketball Game Preview: Stevens Raiders vs. Brandon Valley Lynx

Having just played yesterday, the Stevens Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Brandon Valley Lynx at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Stevens came up short against O'Gorman and fell 49-40. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Brandon Valley came tearing into Friday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cobblers by a score of 60-50. Given the Lynx's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Cobblers are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brandon Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Stevens, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Stevens came up short against Brandon Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-49. Can Stevens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
