Preview: Mount Carmel Academy Bulldogs vs. Sunnybrook Christian Lions
The Mount Carmel Academy Bulldogs are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Sunnybrook Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd. Mount Carmel Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Mount Carmel Academy fell victim to Cristo Rey Jesuit's stalwart defense back in October and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 46-0 loss at the hands of the Lions. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Sunnybrook Christian missed an extra point against Gloria Deo Academy on Thursday and it came back to haunt them. Sunnybrook Christian was just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to Gloria Deo Academy. It was the first time this season that Sunnybrook Christian let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Sunnybrook Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kayden Martin, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Elijah Newman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Mount Carmel Academy's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-4. As for Sunnybrook Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-1.
