Softball Recap: Lane Tech Wins Going Away Against Resurrection

Lane Tech never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the Resurrection Bandits 12-0. Considering the Champions have won nine matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lane Tech got a great performance from Grace Thornley as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Thornley a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Olivia Segura was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Marin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Lane Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lane Tech's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Resurrection, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17-1 record this season.

Lane Tech and Resurrection are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Champions will face off against Chicago Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Resurrection, they will challenge Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
