 Washington Township is 9-0 against Tri-Township since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Washington Township Senators will head out on the road to  square off against  the Tri-Township Tigers at 4:30  p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
 Washington Township had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Merrillville back in March as Washington Township made off with  a  24-5 win.
  Nathan Winchip was a major factor no matter where he played. He  pitched 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (he also didn't allow any  walks). Winchip was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Washington Township let  Drew Horvath and  Owen Gilbert loose on the outfield. Horvath  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with three  runs, three  RBI,  and a  triple, while  Gilbert  scored three  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Gavin Kukler, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Tri-Township never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by  a  13-0 margin over Lake Station Edison. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for Tri-Township.
 Like Washington Township, Tri-Township also got a great game from a two-way player:  Blain Rust. Throwing,  Rust   struck out nine batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Cody Vernich   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also only allowed one  walk). At bat,  Rust  scored a  run and  stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while  Vernich  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news, Tri-Township got a  massive  performance out of  Dillon Stewart, who  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.  Kade Koselke was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs while going 3-for-3.
 Everything went Washington Township's way against Tri-Township when the teams last played  back in May of 2023 as Washington Township made off with  a  10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington Township since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
